Privacy Policy

Overview

Fin ("we," "us," or "our") is a financial literacy application designed for children and families. We are committed to protecting the privacy of all users, and we take special care to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and applicable privacy laws.

This Privacy Policy explains what information Fin collects, how it is used, and your rights regarding that information. Please read it carefully.

Information We Collect

Fin collects only the information needed to run the app, keep your progress in sync, and support families and schools:

• Account information: Name, email address, and role (parent, student, or school staff). Family members may share an email address with separate passwords.
• Learning progress: Completed lessons, quiz mistakes, XP, levels, streaks, daily trivia results, Adventure progress, coins, and the avatars and outfits a student has collected.
• Family data: Family link codes, which accounts belong to a family, parent-assigned challenges, and students' completion notes.
• School data (school accounts only): The school a student or staff member joined with their school code, and each student's lesson progress, which is shared with that school's staff.
• Local challenge data: Progress on sponsored local challenges and parent verifications.
• Subscription and gift status: Whether your family has an active subscription or gift, and when it ends. Payment details are handled by Apple (in-app) or Stripe (gift purchases on our website) — we never see your card number.
• Device and app information: A push notification token (so parents can receive alerts about their child's activity), crash reports, and basic device information such as model and operating system version.

We do not collect: location data, contacts, photos, camera or microphone data. Fin does not request access to your device's advertising identifier.

How We Use Information

We use this information to:

• Create and maintain your account and sync progress across your devices
• Show progress, levels, and achievements in the app
• Let parents follow their child's learning, assign challenges, and receive progress notifications
• Give school staff progress reports for students who joined with their school's code
• Verify subscriptions and gift codes
• Find and fix crashes and bugs
• Measure which of our marketing campaigns bring new families to Fin (see "Marketing Measurement" below)

There are no ads in the Fin app. We do not sell your information, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles.

Data Storage and Security

Account and progress data is stored with Google Firebase, a cloud service operated by Google LLC, so your progress carries over if you reinstall the app or switch devices. Data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), and database security rules limit who can see it: a child's progress is visible only to that child, their family, and — for school accounts — their school's staff.

Note: Uninstalling Fin does not delete your account, because it is stored in the cloud. See "Your Rights" below to delete it.

Children's Privacy (COPPA)

Fin is intended for use by children under the supervision of a parent, guardian, or school. We take our obligations under the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act seriously.

• Student accounts are meant to be created with a parent or guardian, or through a school. We do not knowingly allow children under 13 to create accounts independently.
• For students we collect only what the app needs: name, an email address (a parent's is fine), and learning progress.
• Parents can see their child's progress from the parent dashboard and can delete their child's account at any time, in the app or by emailing support@finliteracy.app.
• Marketing measurement is limited to app installs and parent activity; we do not send student sign-ups to our marketing partner.

If you believe we have collected information about a child in a way that violates this policy, please contact us right away at support@finliteracy.app.

Marketing Measurement

Fin works with a marketing partner to reach new families. To know which campaigns are working, the app uses Meta App Events (from Meta Platforms, Inc.) to report when the app is installed and opened, when a parent account is created, and when a subscription is purchased, along with basic device information. Our website (finliteracy.app) uses the Meta Pixel for the same purpose: it records page visits using cookies so we can tell which campaigns bring visitors to the site. You can block these cookies in your browser settings or use Meta's ad preferences. This is used only to measure our own marketing — Fin shows no ads in the app, and we do not sell your data. Third-Party Services

• Google Firebase (Authentication, Realtime Database, Cloud Functions, Cloud Messaging, Crashlytics): accounts, data storage, push notifications, and crash reports. Privacy policy

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your data: Your progress and account details are shown in the app.
• Delete your account: Open your Profile tab and tap "Delete Account" to permanently delete your account and its data, or email support@finliteracy.app and we will delete it within 5 business days. Deleting your account does not cancel an App Store subscription — cancel that in your Apple ID settings.
• Correct your data: Contact us to correct any inaccurate information.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the app after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
